Starlink maritime & boat rental
Boat owners, charter guests, and coastal travelers often rent a portable Starlink kit for a week or a season instead of buying hardware and a long-term maritime plan. The market splits between tourism-style portable Wi‑Fi (yacht / villa / RV) and broader satcom resellers that list Mini, Standard, Performance, and maritime flat high-performance kits. Rent Starlink is a directory and guide site — we point you to operators via /go/… hops. We do not rent kits, install antennas on vessels, or open a peer-to-peer marketplace for consumer Roam kits.
Examples from public operator pages
- Book Baja — Baja California positioning for yachts, villas, and RVs; public copy listed portable Starlink Wi‑Fi at $75/day with a 7-day minimum (confirm live).
- Global Satellite Group — worldwide ship hubs; US page listed Basic $30/day (min 1 week), Standard+battery $40/day, +solar $50/day, with per-GB data add-ons; catalog includes maritime Flat HP and emergency kits. Also Caribbean / Cayman and EMEA pages — verify the SKU you need.
- GTC (UK) — Mini & Standard from £24/day inc VAT on public rental pages as of late 2026; maritime terminal also in the broader catalog.
- Satellite Phone Store (Connecta) — satcom reseller with Mini / Standard / Performance rental lanes and monthly “as low as” framing on public catalog pages — useful when you need a broader terminal shop, not only a trip box.
Filter the directory with the Maritime chip, then open View rental site to hop outbound. Prices above are catalog snapshots as of late 2026.
What to clarify before you book a boat kit
- Stationary vs in-motion — many consumer Mini kits are aimed at docked / at-anchor use unless the operator and Starlink plan explicitly support in-motion. From public Starlink terms: samples restrict unauthorized in-motion / aircraft use. Re-read the live Starlink Terms for your plan; we do not invent extra clauses here.
- Coastal range claims — some outdoor renters claim coastal operation to a stated nautical-mile limit. Treat marketing claims as operator-specific; ask for coverage expectations for your itinerary.
- Power and mount — 12V / inverter needs, cable length, and whether a marine mount is included or DIY.
- Data and fair-use — weekly packages may include a GB allotment or charge per GB (Global Satellite public examples showed +$7/GB on some US packages). Confirm overage math.
- Shipping to a marina or agent — lead time, customs for international charters, and who signs for the case.
Tourism add-on vs dedicated maritime satcom
Tourism operators (e.g. Book Baja) often rent the same portable kit pattern used for villas and RVs. Dedicated satcom shops may stock maritime-specific hardware and longer-term contracts. Match the operator to trip length and risk tolerance — a one-week Baja charter is a different buy than a multi-month passagemaking build. For break-even vs owning kit + service, see rent vs buy.
