How to choose a Starlink rental company

Dozens of third-party operators ship or hand off Mini, Standard, and event packages. This checklist helps you pick one without treating any directory card as a live quote. Rent Starlink (rentstarlink.net) compares operators as a directory and guide site — we do not run a fleet, and we do not open peer-to-peer listings of consumer Roam kits. We are not the similar-sounding US operator at rentastarlink.net.

Renter checklist

  1. Kit fit — Mini for portability; Standard when you need a larger dish footprint; Performance / maritime / bonded only when the use case needs it. See Mini vs Standard.
  2. Logistics — ship-to-you with prepaid return, local pickup, or on-site install. Confirm arrival window relative to your travel day and who pays late fees.
  3. All-in price — day/week rate, deposit (public price examples often $200–$650), shipping, insurance, and per-GB overages. Snapshot bands: cost guide.
  4. Account & support — most trip fleets say you do not need your own Starlink account (operator FAQs; confirm). Ask who you call if the kit fails mid-trip and what the swap policy is.
  5. Written agreement — damage, theft, late return, and data fair-use should be in the rental contract you sign with the operator — not inferred from a blog post.
  6. Reputation signals — real company address, ID verification, published rental agreement, and recent reviews. In practice, treat Facebook Marketplace–style informal offers as higher fraud risk relative to fleets with written agreements.

Fleet vs marketplace / P2P

Our directory features dedicated fleet operators. Hygglo and Fat Llama appear as Marketplace · caution rows only — platform damage cover may exist on some listings, but host quality and plan compliance vary. Prefer fleets when you need predictable shipping and a single support contact. We intentionally do not run an open P2P of consumer Roam kits on this domain.

Terms of Service reminder (no invented clauses)

We summarize only what public Starlink consumer ToS PDF samples stated (as of late 2026). Always read the live Starlink Terms for your country and plan. This is not legal advice.

  • From public Starlink terms: consumer ToS samples prohibit reselling access as a stand-alone or value-added service unless on an authorized Priority plan that explicitly allows community Wi‑Fi / hotspot resale.
  • From public Starlink terms: agency / commercial third-party purchase restrictions and kit-transfer limits appear in the same ToS family.
  • In practice: many trip renters appear to use Roam-style accounts and share Wi‑Fi — common practice is not proof of compliance. Ask the operator what plan they run; get counsel if you plan to operate a fleet yourself.
